Graco My View Bassinet Playard Review

You know Graco makes playards- after all, they are the originators of the Pack N Play!

But you may not have seen their My View 4-in-1 Bassinet. It’s a new spin on a classic playard so it can double as an almost co-sleeper as you can glance over and see your baby without moving from your spot in the bed.

This addition to the Graco family offers many other advantages as well, so take a peek and see why you need this new bassinet-playard for your family’s new addition.

The Graco My View 4-in-1 Bassinet Review

Graco My View 4 in Baby Bassinet with 4 Stages Including Raised Bassinet at Eye Level, Montana

Function

The My View has two functions: a playard and a bassinet.

As such, this model does not have a changing table, but serves one unique function you cannot find in some of the other playards, as the bassinet pulls out to take with you. Also, the system grows with your baby to use for the first two to three years of their life.

Imagine you want to take a shower but you have a one-month-old infant. You can’t hold the baby while washing yourself, so you need a safe place for your baby, where you can see him. The My View puts the baby in your view as you can take the bassinet off of the playpen and bring just that section into the bathroom.

No matter where you go, this bassinet can help infants, babies, and toddlers take a nap or have a safe place to sleep. Move the whole piece from one room to another with the handy wheels on one end for easy transport.

It’s a great piece if you need a portable bassinet on the go for grandma’s house, a hotel, camping, or anywhere else you can imagine.

Graco made this playard to serve a missing area and target four stages to help increase the usefulness. The stages include:

  • Raised bassinet
  • Crib-level bassinet
  • Portable bassinet
  • Playard

Keep in mind, the majority of the benefits are for the first three to six months with the bassinet, which is wonderful for new moms. If you want something that focuses more on the playard aspect, check out our Best Pack N Play round-up.

Bassinet

The bassinet gives you a safe space for your infant to sleep. Remember to only use the bassinet portion of this set until your baby can sit up on their own. Once your baby can move around independently, the bassinet becomes unsafe. For the first few months, it’s a fabulous way for you to let your baby sleep no matter where you are in the house.

You get three different functions out of the bassinet.

First, you can keep it on the higher setting and have easy sightlines for your baby through the mesh sides while in bed. That’s right, the bassinet functions as a co-sleeper of sorts.

Second, sink the bassinet into the lower section. This gives you a little more safety and security for a bigger baby. You can sink the bassinet down to crib-level for easy reaching in bed too. This level works best for keeping them close but when you don’t need sightlines or if you want easier reaching while in bed for middle-of-the-night nursing sessions.

Third, you can take the bassinet out of the playard altogether and move it around independently as discussed above. It also has a removable canopy to block out the sun with two toys attached. A soft but firm mat stays at the bottom

Playard

Of course, the playard acts as a safe place for children too small to crawl out of it. It’s a place where children can go so mom can wash the dishes, take a shower, or anything else without concern for their safety. It’s also a perfect place for babies to sleep while traveling.

The playpen measures 20.8 x 24.6 x 28.7 making it the perfect size for little kids to have a room of their own.

When you need to store the playard, simply take out the mattress, click the sides of the pen down and fold it up. Then fold the mattress around the playard and velcro it together. If you want you can place it in the carrying bag or just use the handle built-in to the back of the mattress.

Mesh provides windows to the outside world for your tot while padding around the edges keeps them safe. The mesh also makes it harder for babies to climb out of the pen. Do not let your guard down though, as babies have surprising upper body strength as well as the ability to stack toys and climb out.

Accessories

The playard doesn’t come with any accessories but you can purchase others separately.

For example, you may want a diaper organizer, fitted sheets, or a waterproof crib mattress pad cover. Remember though, this playard does not come with a changing mat, but it does have the bassinet which could double as a changing table. That’s not as comfortable for parents to negotiate with the higher sides.

Other Considerations

The price is a very affordable option especially compared to the other options on the playpen market. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but it does double as a very functional co-sleeper as well as a bassinet and a playard.

You get two color choices: Montana which is grays with hints of pale pink, and Ramley which is all shades of gray.

Washing the playpen is easy- just spot clean. Do not use harsh chemicals, as babies often put their mouths on the mesh. If you buy extra sheets and a waterproof pad, it makes cleaning a lot easier.

Finally, the bassinet is safer than sleeping in a chair or swing since babies can sleep better on their backs. Always keep the baby in the same room as you when in the bassinet as babies can learn to move surprisingly fast and cause problems. If you plan to leave the room, put the baby in the main playard, not the bassinet.

Final Thoughts

The My View 4-in-1 Bassinet Playard by Graco is a wonderful and affordable new option to serve as both a playpen, bassinet, and a next-to-the bed co-sleeper. It gives you a place to keep your baby safe from birth up to toddler years.

Let this playard help make the first few months of your child’s infancy be much easier with this dual unit.
